Your child's safety is of the utmost importance to us, the pack leadership! We want to make sure that you and your family are informed about the practices in place to help protect your child!
Pack leaders are registered with the BSA.
Background checks are completed on each adult leader.
All pack adult leaders are trained on Youth Protection Training (also referred to as YPT)
This training covers a variety of topics for youth protection in regards to abuse.
This training is valid for 2 years so each adult leader must re-certify regularly.
We encourage all parents in our pack to take this training as well so that they are trained but also so that they have an in-depth knowledge of the measures we take to protect your children.
We enforce Two Deep Leadership.
Two Deep Leadership is covered in the YPT.
It means that there should always be two adults with any given Scout. Scouts are never alone with another adult (no 1:1 contact).
Buddy System
At any Scouting events and activities that we host or attend, we enforce the buddy system with our Scouts.
This is for their protection - there is always someone else with them so should anything happen, it will be easier to find and assist them.
Guide to Safe Scouting
We adhere to Scouting America's Guide for Safe Scouting which outlines which types (and length) of activities are appropriate for each level of rank (grade level).
Several of our adult leaders are Red Cross trained in First Aid, CPR, and AED use.
Additionally, we have multiple leaders trained in BSA's BALOO training and Hazardous Weather training.
This is a training adult leadership are required to hold for pack outdoor and overnight events.
Lastly, Scouting is an activity that lends itself to family involvement. Parents are encouraged to actively participate (and at the younger levels - required) in their child's Scouting adventure.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to look over the BSA handout below and the youth safety link included in it. You can also reach out to one of our adult leaders anytime. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have!
