Cub Scouts is an incredibly inexpensive extracurricular opportunity for your child especially when compared to other activities.
Yearly cost (Jan. - Dec) to maintain your national Scouting America membership are just $85 per child (for one year from joining)! Broken down, that's just $7.08 per month! Think of these initial fees as registration fees.
Additional costs are the uniform though if sized right these can last for several years. The handbook, slide, and neckerchief are elements of the uniform that change yearly. For details on the uniform, see the Uniforms section of this site.
To fund our pack activities and supply needs, we charge yearly dues in addition to the Scouting America membership fees. This amount changes based on our needs but the cost for the 2024-2025 school year will be $135 per scout, which averages to just over $11 a month, due November Den Meeting. With that fee we are able to cover pack needs like awards, training, and supplies for pack meetings and campouts. Throughout the year we have additional activities with small fees like camping and Pinewood Derby kits.
One of the principals of Scouting is "A Scout is Thrifty". With this in mind, there are opportunities for fundraising that support both the pack (as Scouting America is non-profit) and the Scout. When fundraising for the Scout, these funds can be used towards Scouting costs for your child. For example, families are able to sell popcorn in the fall to cover their yearly dues and scouts can sell camp cards in the spring to cover the small activity fees mentioned above as well as summer camp and even uniforms needs!
